THE YALE PILZ MEMORIAL STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP FUND

The Yale Pilz Memorial Scholarship Fund at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem was established by the Pilz family in January 2016 to honour the memory of their beloved son and brother Yale.

Yale was a one-of-a-kind kid. He was tremendously popular and outgoing but also deeply caring and sensitive. Many people knew him for his free spirit and fun-loving demeanor, the guy with a million friends who was always the life of the party. But those closest to him saw him for what he really was: the camp counselor who would pay special attention to the camper who was picked on or homesick, the kid who would see a homeless person and had to ask his parents to give them a few dollars, the friend who couldn't run fast enough to help someone when they were in need.

Yale was also deeply attached to his Jewish heritage and to Israel. As the grandchild of Holocaust survivors, he understood the need to carry on Jewish traditions and to support the Jewish state. With all of this in mind, the Yale Pilz Memorial Scholarship was established to provide financial support to a young person who embodies all of these traits and wishes to spend a semester studying at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem

This scholarship of $2,500 CDN will be awarded annually to a deserving Undergraduate or Graduate student attending a summer program at the top university in Israel, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
