The Ronson Family Student Scholarship Fund was established in 2017 by Jeremy Ronson and Rhonda Ronson to honour the memory of their dear parents Lou and Hilde. Throughout their lifetime Lou & Hilde were advocates for human rights and intense supporters of Israel. Education is at the core of humanity’s evolution and they believed that everyone should have a right to the education that would enhance their inherent skills and aptitudes.

Lou always looked to the younger generations as the path to a better future with their ideas, innovations and zest to succeed.  He spent most of his life giving to the community, supporting and encouraging others to follow their dreams.  Amongst many other positions, he served as President of the Canada-Israel Chamber of Commerce, Vice Chairman of the Ontario Human Rights Commission, and a Director of Mount Sinai Hospital. He was a recipient of the Special Human Rights Award for Lifetime Achievement and the National Human Relations Award from the Canadian Council of Christians and Jews.

Hilde, played an integral role in altering the public school system’s policies so that children with intellectual and developmental disabilities became eligible to attend public schools, and she received an award for her dedication in working with these children.

The Hebrew University of Jerusalem was very close to their hearts and the ability to provide scholarships to students who are eager to attend would give them the greatest joy. The Fund will award up to $2,000 a year for a deserving Canadian Student to study at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
