The University of Toronto-Hebrew University of Jerusalem Research & Innovation Alliance will enable global, interdisciplinary research collaborations between leading researchers and their teams from the University of Toronto (U of T) and Hebrew University (HUJI).

The Alliance will also build an “International Entrepreneurship Highway” to give student entrepreneurs from both universities exposure and experience in the other’s innovation ecosystems and will pave the way for Canada’s and Israel’s top universities to collaborate as global hubs for talent, cutting-edge research and innovative start-ups.

Students will participate in an exchange program to work as paid interns at start-ups while pursuing studies and mentorship at Asper HUJI-Innovate and other centres for entrepreneurship at both universities.

The Alliance will also establish a new model for international research partnerships that will enable top research talent to advance global solutions to global challenges.

Projects will be selected based on their potential to advance knowledge, positively impact lives and build on the strengths of both universities.

Inaugural studies include an investigation into SARS-CoV-2 and an inquiry into the impact of climate change on early human evolution.

LAST YEAR'S PROCEEDS

The proceeds from the 2020 Online Madness Tournaments supported the Einstein Legacy Student Scholarships at Hebrew University. These scholarships enabled Canadian students to study at the world-renowned university for a summer program, a semester, a full year or for a postdoctoral program.

The majority of these student funds were created by families who wanted to honour the memory of a loved one in a meaningful way. If you would like to create your own family scholarship to help send students to Hebrew U, please contact Esther Schlesinger, CFHU’s Manager of Alumni Relations at 416-485-8000 or email her at esthers@cfhu.org.
